If we ever have another situation like last Friday and school districts decide to close after running a bus to bring your child to Rev. Brown school, an instant alert will be sent to you IF your child is going to be coming home early due to your district closing early.
The rules for dress codes (WHICH INCLUDES HAIRCUTS) will be enforced in the New Year. The Parent/Student handbook on page 31 states,
“fourth through eighth grade students will be deemed knowledgeable of the code and its intent and held responsible for their own appearance. As a result, warning notices will not be issued to these students before a consequence such as detention is given. Younger students will benefit from some leeway depending upon the infraction. Their parents will in general be contacted first, but even our youngest students will be expected to learn how to dress properly.”
Please help you child to be in compliance with the rules

Happy New Year!!!!
Dear Families,
Thank you for all your generous gifts I received at Christmas time. My desk was covered with beautifully wrapped presents and I realized just how special Rev. Brown parents are. Thank you for all your kindness and thoughtfulness. Thank you for sharing your children with me as they grow and develop this year. Memories are in the making-both for you and for me.
Love,
Mrs. Corcoran
What if Reverend Brown School earned a penny every time you searched the Internet? Or how about if a percentage of every purchase you made online went to support our cause? Well, now it can! GoodSearch.com is a new Yahoo-powered search engine that donates half its advertising revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. Use it just as you would any search engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations add up! GoodShop.com is a new online shopping mall which donates up to 37 percent of each purchase to your favorite cause! Hundreds of great stores including Target, Gap, Best Buy, ebay, Macy's and Barnes & Noble have teamed up with GoodShop and every time you place an order, you’ll be supporting your favorite cause. Just go to www.goodsearch.com and be sure to enter Reverend Brown School as the charity you want to support. And, be sure to spread the word!
ALL PARENTS ARE WELCOME!
The age old problem of bullying has not bypassed Reverend Brown. Whether it's severe or mild, it's still a reality. Parents PLEASE come to this month's Parent Guild meeting on the very important subject of bullying. Update...
1. As of the current date we are looking at making up the 3 days we missed at the end of the year.
2. Track is now over for the season. Everyone did an awesome job. We thank Mrs. Manzo for finishing out the season for Mrs. Bertoline who left Oct. 5th.
3. The "Cycle Period" is working well. Both 8th grades are completing a CO-OP prep cycle of Math and English. They will be well prepared for the test. We wish them luck!!!
7th grade was provided with a "study hall cycle" which the students can do work, read, or ask for extra help. We are trying hard to teach the children to be responsible and learn to use their time effectively. They will soon learn an extra minute is worth using wisely.
The other "cycle" would have been Health but do to the absence of a Physical Education teacher this had to be modified. We do have a new Physical education teacher starting very soon and that small problem will be rectified.
The sixth graders had "computes" as a cycle. They also had available to them during the cycle "Study Skills" which all have found beneficial.
The Math Tutoring Program began on Wednesday and was a great success. The pick time is at 4:00 out of McKenna Hall. Thank you Mrs. Loyas and the Pope John tutors. Parents we are still in need of lunch volunteers. If you can help, please send a note in with you child. School starts at 8:10 & School ends 2:40 For those new parents that are not sure what "TAG" day is ......Your child may wear their regular clothes. However, there is a dress code for those days in place.
