The Catholic Academy of Sussex County is proud to announce its fourth President, Daniel O’Keefe, to preside over the Academy’s lower, middle, and high schools beginning August 1st, 2025. Mr. O’Keefe joins the Academy with nearly 40 years of experience as Catholic administrator and educator, most recently as Principal and President of Cardinal Spellman in the Bronx, NY.

“Mr. O'Keefe brings significant experience in Catholic Education and Leadership that will undoubtedly strengthen the Academy and lead it to a bright future of vibrant growth, offering the best of Catholic Education to every student and family in Sussex County and beyond” said Bishop Kevin Sweeney, the Bishop of the Diocese of Paterson.

Mr. O’Keefe resides in Sussex County and has held several positions within Catholic Education at Cardinal Hayes High School, John S. Burke Catholic High School, and Cathedral Prep Seminary.

He currently serves as the President of the Catholic Schools Administrators Association of New York State, representing over 350 Catholic schools, and as President of the Metropolitan New York Catholic High School Presidents' Association.

“As I begin my new leadership role with the Catholic Academy, I want to express my eager anticipation to work collaboratively with faculty, administration, alumni, and families of the Academy,” said O’Keefe. “Together, we will continue to foster an enriching academic environment that promotes a positive, nurturing, Catholic culture and inspires our students to achieve their full potential.”

O’Keefe succeeds Father Michael Parisi, diocesan vicar general and pastor of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Mountain Lakes, as the Catholic Academy president.
