In the spring of 2017, the schools of the Diocese of Paterson, as a result of a rigorous evaluation process, earned full accreditation with AdvancED. An international accreditation agency, AdvancED is the world’s largest educational community serving more than 27,000 public and private schools across the United States and in 69 countries. The two-year accreditation process was a clear and comprehensive program of evaluation and external review that is supported by research based standards and is based on a model for continuous improvement.
All members of the educational community were involved in the process. Utilizing surveys completed by clergy, parents, students, teachers and principals, the school leaders and the diocesan staff met on a monthly basis to analyze survey results and to develop action plans to address each of the standards measured by AdvancED. These actions became part of the overall plan that was submitted to the AdvancED accreditation team. Site visits by the accreditation team were part of the process and included interviews with teachers, students and staff to measure the progress made in that school. The accreditation the Diocesan schools received from AdvancED is for five years.
