Community Service

As a faith-based school, Reverend George A. Brown Memorial School takes great pride in giving back to the community.

We took it a step further in 2017-2018 instituting the “Extending Hands Program," a program in which all of the PreK-Grade 4 students collect food every month and donate it to different food pantries in the area.

The idea of the program came from Reverend Brown kindergarten teacher aide Mrs. Monica Carelli. Mrs. Carelli has worked in the school for over 15 years and has been involved in a variety of community outreach programs. This program helps our students learn the power of giving to others year-round and how to model the life of Christ.

Since its launch, our school has donated over 1,000 items to local organizations such as The Samaritan Inn in Newton, the Sparta Ecumenical Food Pantry, Project Self-Suffciency, St. Joseph's Church Pantry in Newton and Sussex County Social Services Food Pantry in Newton.
